Remember, these EXAMS are NOT ABOUT PERFECTION, a PERFORMANCE, or a POLISHED dog. Rather, these EXAMS are the examine the following:

1) To see if the handler knows what to do to help their dog succeed in the moment.

2) To see if the dog is 'reading' their handler and taking responsibility for their position in relationship to their handler. 

Practice is what makes the difference in setting a dog up to succeed.

9-20-23 Week 4, Day 3 morning training session with Roxanne & Maggie

 WHEW..we had a phenomenal training session due to unpredictable and on-the-site HIGH distractions. So, I opted to take advantage of the situation and trained Maggie at home with ALL those HIGH and new distractions.  Maggie did well-:)

Week #4 work Monday 9/18/23

Week 3, Day 3 Roxanne and Maggie

Worked Maggie approximately 10 minutes at her house to get her to calmly and obediently exit her kennel and heel well to my truck to load.  It was very quiet, so I opted to do a warm-up Week 3 EXAM # 2, Silence is Golden (no verbal commands at all).

Actually, Maggie did well on her front porch in the absence of major distractions.

And invested another 10 VERY HARD minutes bringing Maggie into her home with Bible Study and her beloved girls milling about. Still, she did finally understand she would not be allowed to lose her

 marbles (self-control) and would be required to maintain her marbles (self-control) and heel well no matter what was happening.

Mary/Maggie week 3 Day One 9/11/23 4:30-5:25

Roxanne worked Maggie pretty extensively this morning so I thought I’d keep it pretty basic this afternoon. We went to Monroe Lyons Park and did the Longe line to warm up. Mike went the first time I did the line with Maggie and he came along today. 

He was quite impressed with Maggie’s progress! After the line we did…

She hasn’t done an AS for me yet but I feel she’s close. She’s a smart cookie.

9-11-23 Week 3, Day 1, Roxanne works Maggie 2.5 hours

Bob was up today, yeah and Mickie had a friend Diane there also.  Maggie is LUNGING out of her kennel and then out-of-control in their home.  She did that this morning and since we are finally at Week 3, I knew I could do the additional training she needs to acquire self-control ESPECIALLY coming out of her kennel, inside the house, approaching an open door, loading up and the list goes on and on and on.  We needed to be through Week 2 EXAMS before I could really reinforce the necessary training and today it was time for Maggie's necessary training.

This training is about respecting and honoring boundaries. Link to an old page entitled, "Honor the Boundaries". 

Once we got these new boundaries established, I opted to take Maggie to my place for her training this morning. The LL warm-up included cows too, but don't tell Molly. 

Then the Cool Down.

 I kenneled Maggie while I set up her training area, then worked her on Week 3 material.

And finally, nearly 2 hours after I started working Maggie this morning, I was able to do her  Week 3 EXAM # 1: Body Bend Readiness Test.

And that was a wrap.  Worked Maggie on obedience from unloading from my truck to her kennel. She should have been tired, at least for a little while-:)

It was a good training session.

Ace is understanding the kiss hand signal. but my foot work is not the best i still need more work. and ace did not disregard a ball. im going to try to redo the exam when i get off work today. I worked on the most was the foot work for the left and right turns.
