Week 2: The Halt footwork with Fido (video & written instructions)

=================================================================================================
On the Halt, it’s a 3 mechanic movement sequenced simultaneously with both upper leash mechanics AND lower body footwork operating at the same time. It’s a brand new mechanic that EVERY new student struggles to learn, memorize in their head and then store in their muscles as a long term automatic synchronized mechanic.

I will attempt to type this out.
Start with leash in Walking Position.

While heeling and you are wanting to Halt, know you need several steps to Halt to get all the mechanics correct and cue the dog a change is coming.

Days 1-4: Halt mechanics occur while heeling
1) When the right foot is forward, the left hand slides with left pinkie towards and close to snap bolt.

2) Now the left foot takes a shorter stride (cueing the dog a change is coming), as the right hand replaces the left hand in the ‘Thumbs up’ position with right pinkie close to snap bolt.

3) The left foot remains stationary as the right hand gives a steady pull (NOT a yank) by your left pant seam towards the sky (yes, your body is twisted and you can FEEL this in your Spinal Erector muscles), while the right foot closes (that is comes up beside the stationary left foot) and the left hand, with the left thumb towards your left leg (NOT with the left thumb twisted away from your body) puts slight pressure at the base of the dogs tail (NEVER on the back as you can damage a dog).

Whew...a lot of mechanics in less than 2 second
