Mary and I worked Maggie in a Tunnel of Love setup to prep her for her Week 2 EXAM this Saturday. Yes, it was tough. But she's learning to ignore planted distractions like food (but it's cheese! and a dog bowl with food!), other dogs (Redd, Ruth, Molly), her owner, Mickie, Aleacia and her two beloved daughters, MORE food, and people coming over. WHEW...but she learned.
I think Mary learned too today how far she has come with Molly from over 2 years ago and starting. Working another dog, not yours, gives an Advanced Graduate Student a much deeper understanding and appreciation for the relationship they have built with their dog. And it gives Maggie the opportunity to learn to 'read' her handler's mechanics no matter who her handler is at that time. Important learning for all today.
Whew...another tough day for Maggie.
